Bio Information

Iron Joe has been an Ironteam participant, mentor and now coach. Iron Joe did his first Ironman in 2002 with Ironteam, where coach Wayne gave him the nickname “Iron Joe”. The name stuck. In 2002, at the age of 50, Iron Joe had his PR at Ironman Canada, 15 hours and 35 minutes. Since 2002, Iron Joe has completed 5 Ironman races, all with Ironteam: 2002 IM Canada; 2004, IM Canada; 2005 IM Coeur d’Alene; 2005 IM Canada; 2006 IM Canada.

Iron Joe began doing Olympic distance triathlons in 1996, with the old Bud Light Triathlon series in San Diego. Since 1996, Iron Joe has completed over 30 triathlons, including:

• Wildflower long course
• Vineman ½ IM distance
• Donner Lake Tri
• Escape from Alcatraz
• San Jose Tri
• Big Bear Tri
• Uvas Tri & others

Iron Joe was also a participant in TNT’s very first cycling team and a cycling team mentor the following year.

Iron Joe and his wife Maria (also a 2 time TNT marathon participant and 2004 Ironteam member) have raised over $44,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
