About IronTeam
Welcome to IronTeam 2009. Our exceptional group of men and women are committed to raising awareness of leukemia and other blood-related cancers and to raising money for research and patient services.
IronTeam has dedicated the next year to prepare for one of the greatest athletic challenges, the Ironman: A 2.4-mile swim, followed by a 112-mile bike ride, followed by a 26.2-mile run, all to be completed in 17 hours or less.
This year’s team is scheduled to compete in one of the following events:
- Full Vineman, (August 1, 2009)
- Ironman
Louisville,
in Louisville, Kentucky (August 30, 2009)
We compete in honor of several honorees from the San Francisco Bay Area. These honorees are extraordinary people who are battling or have survived leukemia and lymphoma. The team also honors a past teammate and friend, the late honoree- Louie Bonpua by participating in the 7th annual Louie Bonpua Triathlon in January.
About Team in Training
Team in Training (TNT) is a division of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society that trains people to compete in marathons, century rides or triathlons. In exchange for the training program, each participant commits to fund raising for leukemia and related cancers.
This
year, TNT will train an estimated 23,000 runners, walkers, cyclists and
triathletes to compete in events worldwide. TNT accepts athletes of all
fitness levels and through professional coaching provides the
inspiration and tools participants need to reach their goals. An
integral part of the TNT program is matching each participant with an
‘honoree,’ a leukemia patient or survivor.
