IronTeam 2008: pre-season

Some tips for IronTeam 2008:

  • Read, read, read. IronmanLive; TriFuel; Triathlete Magazine; Inside Triathlon
  • Don’t buy anything if you don’t know what you’re buying, e.g. bikes, wet suits, etc.  Wait until after kick-off!
  • Exercise like you normally do.  Don’t need to do anything out of the ordinary.
  • Work really hard and spend time with family and friends.

Louie on Ironman Live

Earlier today I received a press release about Louie Bonpua (pictured here), another athlete with cancer who has become a source of inspiration for Ironman athletes around the world. Diagnosed with chronic myelogenous leukemia in 1997, Bonpua lost 58 pounds within a year. In desperate need of a bone marrow transplant (but with doctor’s unable to find a suitable match), Bonpua had to resort to drug therapy, which eventually helped level his white blood cell count.
