Elaine,

It's Chris from the Southbay Ironteam, I was the guy in the red t-shirt after the ride on Saturday in Portola Valley. We talked for a bit about what you do and I mentioned that I changed my core strength set with the run team based on how you killed us that day in Pleasanton. :-P Anyway, I was wondering if I could pick your brain on that a bit sometime. It looks like I'll be back on the Ironteam next season and my role will be close to what I was doing on the run team. Runners and Ironteamers are two different animals so I'd love to get you take on what works best with the hard core set. Let me know what you think!

Thought I'd look up an old coworker who I once heard say, "I just LOVE to run!"

Whew, I guess so! The next thing I know I look her up and she's running triathlons all over the place and training like the bionic woman!

I'm VERY HAPPY for you Maritza that you now realize ("I'm so cute") what we've all been saying all along. I'm sorry you had to run, swim and bike 20,000 miles to come to that place! Maybe a spa package at Nordstrom might have been an easier way to do it, but hey, knock yourself out! I don't like anyone messin' with my own Private Idaho either, so I won't mess with yours!

Let me guess... you warm down with a nice couple hours on a stretch rack?? Or maybe a mellow sun tanning on a bed of hot coals???

I'm just giving you a hard time! You Triathlon people are impressive as hell! I take a bow to all of you!

Who knows, maybe some day I'll be so ambitious?? I finally decided after 46 years of constant flagrant abuse of my body that it may just be time for me to finally change my ways. I actually go to the gym now everyday before work. (I'm up to 5 miles on the elliptical machine at level 5 resistance and I can whip out 40 to 50 pushups with relative ease. That's up from 2 to 3 when I started.)

Of course, it's the eating that's the most difficult part for me. I know that if I get that under control, the rest will have been of little value. So I'm working on that too.

Siendo bipolar no me ayudó tampoco.

I'm very happy for you Maritza! Keep up the great work! I'll speak for myself when I say that I always knew you were a gem, a superhuman among us mere mortals.

I still think a simple mudbath would have ... ☺

Would you like to share the team quest with Accelerade.com? The site will let you post a link to here and get you in touch with a lot of other triathletes who would be interested in your program. As the site grows, you can even set up a group space for your team that offers discussion boards, and training log features (future). I hope you will consider stopping by and sharing a post or two on your group and your efforts.
